• May 29, 2008: Intention for a Friendship Exchange between the two cities was sounded out in the signing ceremony for『GYEONGGI-Shandong Union』
• The city of TAIAN is a major tourist city in the HWADONG District of China, and TAESAN Mountain located in TAUAB City was designated by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage and attracts 18.67 million tourists each year. Furthermore, TAESAN Mountain is abundant in quality mineral resources and is blessed with all factors for developing it as the base of important energy and raw materials of Shandong Province.

• A delegation, including one staff member responsible for cooperation planning and another staff member, will visit the International Mountaineering Festival of TAIAN City, Shandong Province, China from September 4 to September 7, 2008 and will verify the exchange conditions.
• The delegation consisting of eight (8) officials, including Lee Hong Bong, Mayor of TAIAN City, officially visited from April 8 to April 9, 2010 and concluded the Friendship Exchange Agreement on April 8, 2010.
